Always eager to pass on our knowledge to the next generation of digital marketers and bring new perspectives into the office, Loom is welcoming work experience students into the office throughout the summer once again.

GCSE student Harry approached us about coming into the office for a week and getting an insight into how a digital agency actually works. We appreciated the ease, enthusiasm and curiosity Harry brought into office. Read all about how he got on below!

Harry’s work experience at Loom Digital

I felt excited before the placement, as I was looking forward to learning about digital marketing. I wasn’t sure what to expect at Loom, but the moment I got into the office on Monday, everyone made me feel part of the team.

I enjoyed learning about PPC, with Alex briefing me on it very well. I then completed tasks comparing clients to key competitors.

I enjoyed learning about paid social — it was very interesting to learn how everything on social media works. Alex taught me a lot about how social media algorithms help paid ads find the people most likely to click on them. The best thing I learned from paid social was how ads on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook are made and put onto the apps. I was also interested in how ads are specifically put onto certain people’s feeds.

I enjoyed learning about SEO, it was very interesting to learn how websites are actually built and what makes them more visible in a Google search, without paying for it! Jack showed me how keywords link to websites and how having too many indexable pages can actually be bad for organic SEO. The best thing I learned about SEO was how websites can boost their chances of ranking at the top of Google by not wasting their crawl budget and using keywords naturally throughout their website.

I think working at a digital agency like Loom would be very interesting and compelling. I didn’t know how ads appeared on apps before this experience at Loom. On top of that, the team here were very welcoming and kind, which made me feel very comfortable. I liked the all-round vibe of the place – things like Jack’s Spotify jams, Nikki getting ice cream for everyone, and Chloe teaching me how to do most of the tasks.
