Giving the next generation of digital enthusiasts an insight into the industry and agency life is what we love doing. So, when Sophie got in touch about a week’s work experience placement with Loom, we couldn’t wait to share our knowledge.

Here’s how she got on…

Sophie’s week

Ahead of my placement, I was really excited to gain hands-on experience and see how digital marketing works in a real agency environment. My main goal was to get a clearer idea of which area of digital marketing I might want to pursue in the future, which I definitely feel like I’ve achieved during my time here.

Harry and Tamas were really good at explaining Paid Media – something I didn’t have much knowledge on before. It was eye-opening to see how much strategy goes into creating and managing campaigns. The best thing I learnt was how keyword targeting drives relevant traffic to the website.

I worked alongside the organic team, where Jack showed me how to optimise a company’s search results using SEMrush and Screaming Frog to audit websites and spot technical issues. It was great to see how small changes can make a big difference and improve a site’s search performance.

The most exciting part of my week was when Chloe and Hugh showed me how they write content for clients and how it has a positive impact on visibility and growth. I was given the opportunity to write my own blog for a company of my choice, as well as write a landing page for one of Loom’s current clients. I really enjoyed working on this and would now definitely look into pursuing a career like content writing.

This placement has shown that   working at a digital agency would be extremely rewarding. The variety of clients and projects means there’s always something new to learn. I really liked the collaborative atmosphere – seeing how different teams come together to deliver results was really impactful to see. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Loom Digital. I learned so much!
