At Loom we love to collaborate, and our team of experienced digital marketers are always keen to share their knowledge and expertise. When second year Film Student Ella approached us about a work experience placement we were more than happy to welcome her into the team. This is Ella’s take on her time with us and what she learnt from the experience.

With the end of my second year looming closer and my future career ideas minimal, I decided to get some experience in the real world of work. I was searching for a career that would allow creativity and I definitely found that was the case with digital marketing. I found Loom’s website and knew straight away that I wanted to complete my work experience with them. I could tell from the site that they were dynamic and fresh.

I hadn’t worked in an office or in marketing before, so I was understandably nervous before I began my work experience.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was eager to find out what it was all about. Of course, I had no reason to be nervous because every single person in the team has been so welcoming and the office is a very relaxed environment.

My digital marketing tasks

The tasks that I’ve been set over the two weeks have been exciting. They’ve given me a great deal of insight into what it’s like working for a digital marketing agency. I haven’t been bored for a single moment during the fortnight.

My tasks have varied, from creating different social media posts to writing online content to designing banners on Canva. I’ve learnt so much about marketing, especially PPCSEO, and negative keywords. The team have been wonderful at explaining these things to me and at making time to talk me through the tasks.

Creativity opens doors

The best part of my time with Loom has been discovering that there are careers out there with creativity at their core. It’s made me feel a lot better about choosing to study a creative subject for a degree. I’m definitely more positive about the thought of leaving university and getting a job.

At Loom, we are delighted to continue with our illoominate initiative, welcoming Ella to the team. We have structured her time with us so that she gets to experience various areas of digital marketing, receiving cutting edge insights and developing transferable skills. The Loom team were impressed with Ella’s attitude to the work and her creative abilities, both written and visual.

“Ella has been a pleasure to work with, understanding tasks quickly and completing work done to a really high standard. It’s been great to pass on our knowledge to someone so enthusiastic and willing to learn.”Claire Young, Account Manger
